Department of Geography
The Geography Department was established to prepare scientifically and pedagogically qualified female teachers, aiming to nurture righteous generations capable of bearing the responsibilities of building our beloved country. The department also focuses on developing the graduate's personality comprehensively, equipping her with the knowledge and skills to face challenges and solve them in the field of scientific research, contributing to the advancement of society.
The Geography Department is located within the College of Education for Women in Salah al-Din Governorate, in the center of Tikrit city, Al-Zuhur district. The department contributes to the preparation and development of human resources and the training of teaching staff to support middle and high schools, serving the educational and scientific mission, achieving the goals of higher education, and fulfilling the objectives of colleges of education in line with the state’s central philosophy and serving civil society. The department also organizes numerous conferences, seminars, and workshops, both in-person and online, as well as discussion panels, training courses, and specialized workshops. The Geography Department is the entity responsible for implementing academic standards within the university to develop capabilities and enhance the quality of graduates at the local, regional, and global levels.
Preparing educational staff capable of contributing to building an Iraqi society equipped with knowledge and empowered to participate in comprehensive development across all sectors of Iraqi society and the state.
The objectives of the Geography Department are categorized into three main types: cognitive and scientific objectives (both theoretical and applied), value-based objectives (at the national and human levels), and skill-based objectives (covering all levels of capacity and capability development for graduates and members of the department). In addition to these, there are other specific objectives as follows:

Preparing and developing female students, broadening their sensory, intellectual, and scientific horizons in all geographic subjects, whether physical or human, enabling them for teaching and scientific research in the Ministry of Education and other ministries that can benefit from the geographic expertise of the department’s graduates.

Empowering students to rely on scientific methods in addressing practical problems and life situations through field studies, analysis, and research, especially in studies that serve and benefit society.

Preparing and developing the scientific aptitude of outstanding students to advance their academic studies, encouraging them to pursue postgraduate education, thus forming a core group that supports academic institutions and meets the needs of geography departments in Iraqi provinces as specialists in their fields.

Providing scientific, professional, and cultural training to students and graduates of the Geography Department, enabling them to master and understand the theoretical facts and concepts of geography.

Qualifying students and graduates to grasp the fundamental principles that prepare them for teaching in educational institutions and contributing to scientific research in all geographic knowledge fields.

Developing beneficial behaviors and values among students in alignment with Arab and Islamic values and the principles of other divine religions, guiding them to the highest levels of intellectual, moral, and human maturity.

Enhancing students’ abilities, motivations, and attitudes toward teaching, intellectual inquiry, and scientific research to increase their capacity to face contemporary challenges, support cultural development, and address modern societal issues.
