اScientific research is the primary criterion for academic promotions in our universities. The ministry and universities have directed a strong focus toward publishing research in internationally indexed journals and incentivizing faculty members to publish in these outlets through preferential points in promotion evaluations at all academic ranks. Thanks to the material and moral support and care provided by the university presidency and the deanships of the colleges, our university has made significant progress in publication efforts, which has been clearly reflected in the steady increase in promotion numbers across all academic ranks over the past four years (2016–2019). This increase has also been achieved through the cooperation between the Central Promotions Committee and the promotions committees within the colleges.

Part of the responsibilities of the Central Academic Promotions Division at Tikrit University includes processing promotion applications for the rank of professor, reviewing promotion applications for all academic ranks submitted by university faculty members, and verifying the quality and credibility of journals according to prevailing regulations and instructions. This is aimed at enhancing the university’s academic titles to build a qualified teaching and research staff striving to advance in Arab and global academic rankings. Additionally, the Central Promotions Committee contributes to processing promotion applications for personnel from the Ministry of Education referred to it by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
